A sample circuit is shown below in which the Inverting Terminal is set to 2. I built a simple circuit using the Datashwet comparator. The problem is that the strobe pin is not working for the model.

The simplified schematics of the IC is shown below:. Could the component model be the issue? Most Active Software Boards: The output is correct as seen on the scope. Submitted by admin on 6 March Normally these pins are not used since the Input Offset itself is much better controlled.

TL — Programmable Reference Voltage. The pins 5 and 6 on the Op-amp are used to set the balance voltage if you want to manually adjust the DC-Offset voltage. Message 4 of 5. Message 2 of 5. Any Op-Amp can be made to work as a lm11n comparator, but the LM proves itself to be advantages by housing an Output Transistor inside its datasgeet. The transistor can also make the Load to be isolated from the system ground, so if you are looking for a Voltage comparator to drive loads of these specifications then this IC might be the right choice for you.

I tried adding in a transistor with a 1k resistor to ground and a TTL signal at the base as per the datasheet and this doesn’t disable the output either. LMN Comparator with Strobe. An Emitter Output Circuit is shown below.

This pin is connected to the ground of the system Negative voltage can also be used. The problem datasgeet that tying the strobe pin to ground should make the output stop changing, and it isn’t. The dztasheet schematics of the IC is shown below: When not in use the pins 5 and 6 should be shorted as shown above. The LM can work on a Single supply voltage or in a dual supply mode.

Multisim and Ultiboard

All of those comparator outputs should be a high state which means the Datasehet will turn on connected through the 1K resistor to Vcc. I just built the circuit in real life and it works exactly as I thought, putting GND on the strobe pin makes the output a constant state at Vcci.

Message 5 of 5. As grounding unused pins is a practice on electronics, I guess datasheeet was the way of the designer to make sure the device was not disabled for a ground wired to that pin. You can refer the other possible circuits from the LM datasheet given at bottom. According to the datasheet, if you tie the strobe pin to GND then the output should be disabled.

Why is it not working in Multisim? You can note that the Output voltage stays high when pin 2 has higher voltage than pin 7 and vice versa. Any help is appreciated.

Attached is a Multisim file with every comparator with a strobe feature available in Multisim and a picture of the circuit. If the voltage at the Non-Inverting Terminal pin 2 lm31n higher than the Inverting Terminal pin 2the output pin 7 will also be high else the output will be low.

I expect the output to oscillate between 0 and 1 at the “zero crossing” of the signal.
