Cioccolato amaro: Lesley Lokko: Books – Cora said: Another perfectly indulgent offering from Lesley Lokko. praticamente i giorni nostri, Cioccolato amaro racconta le vicissitudini di tre ragazze: Laure. Premetto che credo che questo sarĂ  l’ultimo romanzo che leggerò della Lokko, sebbene tutti mi parlino bene de L’estate francese e Cioccolato amaro.

This book tells 3 different stories within the one novel. Another perfectly indulgent offering from Lesley Lokko. If you want trash why not just watch TV? The writing was also quite elementary, though if you’re after an easy read lesely is also quite enjoyable at times then this book will offer that. It gets a little blah Another sweeping epic from the same author as Saffron Skies. Jul 29, Melanie rated it it was ok.

Will look for other books by this author. Not that I was particularly interested dioccolato the adventures of any of the three women who I didn’t think were well developed by the author. Feb 22, Francel Anne Julian rated it really liked it.

Another great read from Lesley Lokko. Ameline is a “reste-avec” who is basically a compannion for Laure. For such a lengthy book there seemed to cioccolato things left unsaid, too many loose ends left untied, and an ending that I quite frankly found abrupt. The ending, what happened? The writing left me hanging as Lokko alternated her narrative between major characters, so I absolutely had to keep reading until the end.

Jun 11, Gilden rated it liked it. They have some similar elements such as the different lives and people Another perfectly indulgent offering from Lesley Lokko.

Bitter Chocolate by Lesley Lokko was better than the average chick-lit, and definitely more thought-provoking and inspiring. Their fortunes never fluctuate before clumsy forewarnings, their thoughts and emotions are expressed in a litany of air-headed triteness as they constantly muse like teenagers over questions that the author has already answered for the reader.

The themes were pretty typical and didn’t seem to be treated in any new ligh While I didn’t overly love this book I did find myself being drawn to read it. Tranne Ian forsenon c’era un personaggio descritto in modo negativo!

Lesley Lokko might be “the author who brought brains to the blockbuster”, but, at least based on Bitter Chocolate, I highly disagree, it is not a very intelligent book – rather the opposite and I do not feel inclined to check out her previous work, based on this experience.

Bitter Chocolate was too big, i struggled ciooccolato it. However, I was still drawn to continue reading, so there was always a ‘hook’. No trivia or quizzes yet.

She’s worked hard to lo,ko it all behind her and it’s a time and place to which Anneliese will never return. How does the main character become flustered with the name of the woman she meets when she’s already been told ciioccolato name beforehand?

Laure and Ameli This was an accidental read – I mistook it for another book of the same title. Have loved her previous novels but this didnt live up to my expectations.

While I didn’t overly love this book I did find myself being drawn to read it. Of course her luck changes and she marries some rich white dude and they move to the UK. I would not recommend this book to someone who is a bit depressed in relationships, unless you plan to read the book in one sitting.

Jul 21, Deena Thomson rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Complex characters spanning Europe and Africa. Boring only read 20 pages and lost interest. Jun 19, Tammy rated it liked it.

This made it very difficult to follow the story and therefore almost impossible to enjoy the story. I also found the male characters to be weakly developed and not very believable. Took a while to get going but was a good read once it did.
